A group of American soldiers occupy a remote house in the Ardennes Forrest near the end of the second world war.
Based on William Wharton’s 1982 novel of the same name, A Midnight Clear is possibly the first of the resurgence of WW2 films of the nineties to be realistic and pessimistic in its depiction of the conflict from the US viewpoint. Coupled with confident direction, writing and superbly acted by a cast of up and coming talent and you have a classic war film. One that deserves to be just as well known as the larger budget ‘Saving Private Ryan‘.
